Sustainable Shopping & Thrifting in Charlottesville

Clothing racks with dresses, shirts, and sweaters inside a thrift store, with a display of mannequins and a large vase with white flowers.

A nonprofit donation-based resale boutique, Twice Is Nice, with two locations and a two-part mission, features gently used furniture, clothing, collectibles, jewelry, and housewares. As a favorite Virginia thrift store, Twice Is Nice promotes sustainable shopping and recycling by finding new homes for old stuff! Our proceeds benefit organizations committed to supporting quality of life for community seniors.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

  • Annual grants from TIN support local non-profits dedicated to servicing seniors in need.

  • Community donations come from Charlottesville and the surrounding community. We welcome gently used furniture, vintage and second-hand clothing, jewelry, housewares, books, linens and art. Items we cannot sell are regifted to other organizations, minimizing waste and avoiding the landfill.

  • Our inventory is carefully culled and affordably priced, making it easy for shoppers to find clothing, furniture, and household items they love—without the high cost.

  • Every secondhand item you purchase supports our mission to give back to the community.

In 2024, thanks to amazing community support, Twice Is Nice awarded $270,000 to 31 non-profits in need!

Community & Volunteer Spotlights

Two smiling elderly women with glasses, standing behind a donation table at a charity event, wearing name tags that read 'Jynne Nice' and 'Concance Volunteer'.

“Knowing that the profits are returned to the community ($270,000 in 2024) and that the motto of re-use, reduce, and recycle is carefully followed makes Twice Is Nice a special place. Whether you shop donate, or volunteer (or all 3!) you are supporting a great cause. Come join us!”

A woman is handing a box to a man outside a community store with a sign that says 'Shop. Donate. Volunteer.' The store is open Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 5:30 pm.
A man with short dark hair, wearing a dark jacket, stands next to a wooden dresser on a small cart with wheels, inside an open vehicle in a parking lot, and is smiling and waving at the camera. The sky is blue with some clouds, and there are trees and parked cars in the background.

“Twice Is Nice offers a terrific outlet for the donation of gently-used items. I have been able to help many families settle their estates by donating furniture, clothing, and household goods to TIN. They arrive with a team of volunteers to pack and take away almost everything. Our community is lucky to have this organization. Thanks for all your hard work.”

"Twice Is Nice is exactly what the name is. I shop there because of the nice, clean merchandise, and affordable prices. Even more, I shop there because of the politeness and smiling faces of the workers. They are great. Definitely the best secondhand store in town. They are well-talked-about around town."
